The Project Project Partners

Frankfurt/Main through RMV (Germany)

The German passenger transport association “Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund” (RMV) is a link body involving 15 regional districts and eleven towns and cities in the southern part of the German federal state of Hesse and is one of the biggest passenger transport associations in Europe.

On a national, but also the European level, the RMV has to date gained reputation for its position as a forerunner in the application of innovative technologies and new marketing approaches. Therefore, within BAPTS the RMV is focusing on extending this good level of experience by taking an active role in Marketing and ITS activities.

Apart from the work to be carried out in the related investments, RMV contributes to develop a better understanding of the need of certain target groups, the identification of specific information requirements and the development of direct communication and information tools.

With the overall aim to take an innovative approach towards Intelligent Transportation Technology, RMV has joined forces with the other partners in order to develop and test new and integrated ticketing systems based on the use of mobile devices, beside or instead of smart cards. It concentrates on the development of additional customer services for information, bookings and payments to ease the use of public transport, to relieve the bus driver, and to speed up the service.
